I need help with a nullPointerException i am getting when i use the JPQL @Query on a Dao.I have tried different options i can not seem to find what the problem is. I read online that it was a dependency problem, so i updated all the dependencies but i am still getting the same error. I am trying to link Exams to user using the user_id with the @JoinColumn annotation and a ManyToOne mapping annotation.

Try by defining an explicit join in query:

select e from Exams e join e.user u where u.id= ?#{principal.id}

  • Have you tried hard-coding a dummy value for principal.id? It would help narrow down the problem. – grizzly Feb 2 '17 at 15:31
  • You were right. I hard-coded the principal.id to 1 and i worked. I think the principal.id is not being fetched for some reason. – Arthur Decker Feb 2 '17 at 15:37
