# Specify “deriv” function in non-linear mixed model. R

At the end of the post, you can find the data to reproduce the code written here

I am trying to fit a nonlinear mixed effects model, and I have some problem with the `deriv()` function in R.

The data looks like this (this is just a subset of the original data):

Firstly, I fitted a simple non-linear model using a three-parameter beta function, as follow:

However, I would like to use "id" (and maybe "group" and/or "treat") as random effects affecting b0, b1 and b2 parameters in the beta function.

At the moment, I have only been able to fit the following mixed model

As you can see, I was able to pass only the `~ b0*(x^b1)*(1-x)^b2` expression by the `deriv()` function.

I would like to pass the "original" expressión of my three-parameter beta function (`~b0*(((x^(b1-1)) * (1-x)^(b2-1)) / beta(b1, b2))`) by the `deriv()` function. However, when I try it, I get the following error.
