The following code makes screenshots of a active desktop (incluing Winlogon screen if this code is executed in NT Authority account). I already know that SetThreadDesktop fails if exists some window or hook on same thread that call this function. Then i want know if exists some solution to show a Form on active desktop of way that SetThreadDesktop also can work? Thank you..

EDIT:

i only want a solution to call a Form after this line: CopyScreen(FScrBmp, FIndex) in TCopyThread.Execute;(I tried Form1 := TForm1.Create(Form1);Form1.Show but SetThreadDesktop fails). Or some other alternative that could works.

i made this small change on code above where i shows my last attempt. The Form appear, but always on "OldDesktop".

You would have to switch a worker thread to the desired desktop first, THEN create whatever window(s) you want to display in that desktop in that same thread. Windows have thread and desktop affinities, so you can't just swap them around however you want. – Remy Lebeau Dec 6 at 18:36

  • The thread that wants to display a Form on a given desktop must be the same thread that calls SetThreadDesktop() before creating the Form. You can't call SetThreadDesktop() in one thread, and then have another thread create and show the Form on that desktop. SetThreadDesktop() is per-thread – Remy Lebeau Dec 6 at 21:15

    You could probably tell I already ran the code. But no one makes a new desktop visible and nothing happens. This is, who knows, how manieth account of yours. SOLUTION:

Change the code above this way:

will work fine only by the first time that SetThreadDesktop function is called before window creation (+1 for the 1st comment of @Remy Lebeau, thank you very much!), already when this piece of code:

is executed by the 2nd time, SetThreadDesktop will fails because already exists a window created in same thread that call SetThreadDesktop. Then the solution to this is create and execute a new thread with all the 2nd piece of code of this answer.
