I would like to sum (and average) across each simulation e.g. if simulation 1 has 7 events those values should be summed together.

Code:

sims <- 10

freq.mean <- 3
freq <- rpois(sims, lambda = freq.mean)

gamma_alpha <- 2
gamma_theta <- 5
freq.sev <- lapply(freq, function(x) rgamma(x, shape = gamma_alpha, scale = gamma_theta))

I'd like list of the sum in each simulation: e.g. the sum of simulation[[1]] will be:

78.3 =
sum(9.338442,   4.187821,   1.684569,   22.362444,  12.177631,  15.595493,  12.959588)

if freq returns 7 in the first simulation.
