I want to use exec in my main program and have shared memory with all the subprograms i start. Here is what I have come up with so far: Proces that uses fork:

As you can see I allocate the memory using named descryptor and mmap in every process. I thought every process should have the same memory after that, but in main process the players_sum is still 0. I also tried to synchronize it using semaphores(commented part) but there is a deadlock. Using sleep in main process also gives nothing.

However, what is the most baffling to me is the fact that if i put sleep in player process(also commented) the main process for some reason waits for its children to finish and then products correct output (players_sum is equal to its index) What am I missing?

EDIT: Ok, I guess I kinda figured it out, if i delete close and shm_unlink at the end of the process player it works as intended. I still don't get why it worked with sleep in player process though.
