I have the following code that basically try to find groups of close events that have the same id:

The result is something like the following:

Here, for example, I know that events 41, 42 and 43 are from the same group: they have the same id (0), and they are close to each other in time.

Now, I want back this data inside the original dataframe, as a new column: how do to it?

I tried various combinations of apply, reset_index, and so on, but it seems I'm not able to do it.

IIUC, I think you want to use transform. Secondly, try adding a np.random.seed(123) to your these code and expected outputs, that way we can verify the results.

    Hi. Thanks for the suggestion of the random seed, that's true. The problem was I was passing too many columns to transform, and then using x['times'] inside the transform instead of just passing the ['times'] column. Thank you ! – R. G. Jan 14 at 13:55
