I have three threads: A, B and C.

A executes code snippet

synchronized (redisClient.getJedis()) {
    List<String> values = redisClient.getJedis().mget(keys.toArray(new String[keys.size()]));
}

B executes code snippet

synchronized (redisClient.getJedis()) {
    List<String> values = redisClient.getJedis().mget(keys.toArray(new String[keys.size()]));
}

C executes code snippet

synchronized (redisClient.getJedis()) {
    String result = redisClient.getJedis().get("FEATUREID#TEST");
}

redisClient.getJedis() return a jedis instance.

Sometimes, I find that A obtains the result of C and B obtains the result of A and C obtains the result of B when the three ones use the same jedis instance.

But as you see, I have used synchronized, why should this happen?

RedisClient is obtained from RedisClientFactory using RedisClient redisClient = RedisClientFactory.obtainRedisClient(REDIS_GROUP); the REDIS_GROUP is a redis group name.

  • We don't know what redisClient.getJedis() does, please post that code. If it can return different values for different invocations, then you will be synchronizing on a different instance than the one you are making the call on, and possibly multiple thread could make a call on the same one. Always better to first assign to a local variable, then synchronize on that variable and make the call on that variable. – Erwin Bolwidt May 6 at 2:28

  • Hmm. 🤔 Another question then, you say that A, B and C get mixed up, but A and B use mget to return a List<String> while C uses get to get a String. How do a list and a single string get mixed up? I can see how A and B could get mixed up if keys is a field shared between threads but not how C can get mixed up. – Erwin Bolwidt May 6 at 3:29
  • I think I have found the reason,Jedis use a RedisInputStream instance to get response info,if getting the response A of last read request fails,the response of current read request may be A.So the results get mixed up – user2351281 Sep 16 at 9:37
