I have images of compass boxes, each box might have different pieces such as 9pcs,10 pcs,11 pcs,12 pcs etc. with their tools such as: compasses, divider, 4pcs ruler set, 2 stencils, 1 long pencil, 1 short pencil, 1 sharpener, 1 eraser, 1 paper card, or even some smaller items such as some smaller screws or bolts etc. which are positioned properly in the box.
(Note - I know screws and bolts does not fit here but I am reproducing my use case with some dummy information to protect customer information)
There could be chances that some boxes might have missed some items or some items are overlapped.
So, I am trying to figure out:
- how to find a missing item from the box?
- how to find overlapped items such as a pencil has put under a compass and only some part of the pencil is visible.
AFAIK, we can only use CNN algorithms from the computer vision for object detection. I have gone through a few papers as well such as this and this and few more from Google. But I could not find more concrete on smaller object detection.
I still wonder whether it is possible or not to find smaller objects or overlapped objects using CNN. Kindly let me know if I can use object detection in my use case or not.
