I have a parallelized function within which I want to append to a list. I am initializing the empty list outside of the function first and then within the function, I am appending values to it with every iteration. I am using joblib to parallelize the function, so the order of appending does not have to be sequential (dependent on when the producer yields the next available resources to joblib, which is not a concern). Below code works but recreates a new appended list with the current i value, it has no way of remembering previously appended values so as to continue appending to the previously appended values:

list_a = []


def append_many(i):
    list_a.append(i)
    print(list_a)


num_of_iterations = 10


def producer():
    for i in range(num_of_iterations):
        yield i


out = Parallel(n_jobs=4, verbose=1, pre_dispatch='2*n_jobs', batch_size='auto')(delayed(append_many)(i) for i in producer())
print(list_a)

The code above gives the following results:

[0]
[1]
[2]
[3]
[4]
[5]
[6]
[7]
[8]
[9]

If I print list_a after the generator has produced the final iteration value, I get [] it is retrieving the value of the initialized empty list.

What I want to achieve is as follows:

num_of_iterations = 10
list_a = []

for i in range(num_of_iterations):
    list_a.append(i)
    print(list_a)

print(list_a)

which gives the following results:

[0]
[0, 1]
[0, 1, 2]
[0, 1, 2, 3]
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4]
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]
[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]

I can also now be able to access the final appended value outside of the loop by printing it out which gives: [0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]

How can I achieve the same result using the joblib example above?
