I am able to run my Angular v8 app in development mode even there are TSlint TS errors (just showed few at below). However, when I try to build for production, it failed with npm ERR! code ELIFECYCLE npm ERR! errno 2. I have a number of TSlint TS errors, is there a way to build for production without fixing these errors?

It's not TSLint error but typescript compilation error. For this error, you should set strictPropertyInitialization to false in your tsconfig.json (and tsconfig.app.json)?

Edit: It is bad but you can also disable other flags like strict to false. You should never do it, but if it helps you, you can use: @ts-ignore to ignore errors. However, if you have to ignore too many errors, stop using Angular

For $(this.datePickerEl.nativeElement).kendoDatePicker, the correct way is to declare kendoDatePicker method for jQuery. And the fast way to ignore error:

($(this.datePickerEl.nativeElement) as any).kendoDatePicker(...)

You can declare $ as any, but you are losing the type of jQuery ==> You don't have the benefit of using Typescript anymore. Anyway, using jQuery in a Angular project is usually bad ...

This is an error only with noImplicitAny flag setting to true. I don't see it in your tsconfig.json. Anyway, try to add noImplicitAny: false

  • Note though that this can lead to erros during runtime, which is exactly what TypeScript is supposed to guard against. Better solution would be to either assign a value in the constructor or declare the variable with closeResult?:string;, telling the compiler that the variable can be undefined. Although this may show you further errors, as you now need to guard against the variable being undefined. – CGundlach Jun 5 at 14:44

    You are right, but it is not always a good choice with Angular: an @Input() property may be undefined on the constructor, but always defined for the lifetime of the component. It would be heavy to check the property each time you use it. – HTN Jun 5 at 14:50
  • In that case, you can also use closeResult!: string; to assure the compiler that the variable will definitely be assigned, even if you're not doing so during declaration or inside the constructor. IIRC Angular also recommends this in the documentation of the Input decorator, or at least did this when I read it. – CGundlach Jun 5 at 15:00
  • Why in development mode, these errors can be ignored? I tried your solution but still have issue. My error is not only has no initializer but other types as well (updated my errors). How to force webpack to totally ignore errors that are okay in development mode? – Lee Chee Kiam Jun 5 at 15:04
  • @CGundlach that's right. That's what I use. However, when you are arriving to a project with many cases like this, it is better to disable this option. And you can slowly activate it from time to time to fix error. In my case, I activate strict option, but only in dev. – HTN Jun 5 at 15:10
