I am using flutter_bloc: ^6.1.1 along with dependency injection get_it: ^5.0.6. The state is not changing when I submit event to the bloc.

Everything is working fine except the bloc is is not changing its state. It's stuck in initial state. The code is working properly as it is making API request to the server.

The problem is that you have registered NavBarBloc as a factory. So whenever you call sl<NavBarBloc>() a new instance of the bloc is created.

Thus when you have called sl<NavBarBloc>().add(HomePageSelectEvent()), the event is added to another instance, not the one you have passed to bloc builder.

UPDATE: Two short examples:

  1. Using BlocProvider:

  • Got your point. So how do I use get_it with bloc. How should I register bloc in get_it so that bloc will work as expected?   • It is OK to use registerFactory. The thing is that you should use it in another way. Like using a BlocProvider or save the instance of your bloc and pass that to BlocBuilder or BlocProvider.value. I will update the answer for a small example too. Jan 28, 2021 at 10:19

    It worked. sl<NavBarBloc>().add(EVENT); was actually passing those events to new instance. So I create a var with sl<NavBarBloc>() which I used for both adding events in my navbar [passed through constructor] and for blocProvider. Thank you so much!
