I am trying to add unit-tests to my code. Struggling to deal with the function processing presigned S3 urls. My function is below.

At the minimum, I just want the jest to consider this function covered by unit-tests to some degree, so my thresholds stay above the minimum coverage required for CI to allow my code to build.

The tests are not working, though. I am getting the below mismatch:

Why I am having problems calling createPresignedPost() with await, like it supposed to work? How do I get rid of this "extra" [Function anonymous], so my test passes?

You should mock the implementation of s3.createPresignedPost method with a callback. Then, you should invoke the callback manually with mock Error or data.

Besides, the createPresignedPost is to be called with two params: params and anonymous callback function, you can use expect.any(Function) to represents it.

  • I tried your solition and it works if I create s3 inside the function to be tested (as you did in createPresignedPost inside index.js), but not if I define it as a global variable: it says all the members of s3 are undefined. In my case, I have more functions that use s3, but I think it would be better to make a global s3 and use it in every function than creating a new one each time I call a function. Do you know if its possible to do that and make the tests pass? Oct 28, 2021 at 15:29
