I have below YAML file used in Kubernetes of Windows Docker Desktop.

When I run kubectl get pods -n example I get ErrImageNeverPull error.

I am not sure what is this error and how to fix this in Docker-Desktop? Can anyone help me? I run Kubernetes in Docker-desktop application on Windows.

   "thoughts_server:latest" is not present with pull policy of Never

  • It means the image is not loaded locally and the settings say to never attempt to pull the image. You can either pull it manually or change settings in the deployment to allow pulling, either always or when image doesn’t exist Commented Nov 27, 2021 at 15:56

  • voting to close as the question presupposes the existence of images that do not exist. This is the reason for the reported errors and no details are given of where these images are supposed to be made or come from

Per docs,

By default, the kubelet tries to pull each image from the specified registry. However, if the imagePullPolicy property of the container is set to IfNotPresent or Never, then a local image is used (preferentially or exclusively, respectively).

You use imagePullPolicy: Never directive in your Deployment and when you try to deploy your manifest, kubelet fails to find required images locally.

To get your local cluster to use a local image, you need to make two changes to your Kubernetes deployment configuration:

  • add an imagePullPolicy: Never
  • make sure the tag you are using is correct, e.g., docker build . -t my_app will need to be referred to as "my_app:latest"
