My name is Eric Emer. I am a Course 6 sophomore from Highland Park, Illinois who currently studies at MIT. From the perspective of someone who doesn’t get the chance to know me, I might seem like your average tall, white, Jewish boy, but I crave variety. Some of my passions include: chess, guitar and making music, technology, golf, tennis. language processing, studying foreign language, traveling, reading, teaching, learning about behavioral psychology, keeping up with the economy, listening to music, writing, meeting and connecting with people, and living in the moment to a degree. I’m deeply interested in startups and entrepreneurship, and there is no doubt that one day you’ll find me residing in Silicon Valley. I think that 99% of people are interesting in some way, and my goal is to find out why for each person. On the lighter side, I’m always in favor of the spontaneous rush that sends you looking for the world’s greatest natural high (which happens to be located in Shanghai), chasing after my childhood true love, or ending violence in the world with my hugs. “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”
