imagine if every time you went to the supermarket to buy a pint of milk, they said "oh no, you have to talk to three members of staff first and ask them how their day is, before you can buy a pint of milk". welcome to stack overflow.

what you do is just restrict the involvement of developers to this site, for some strange reason. it's ridiculous, and what is it with all these "badges"? it's like a playstation game, i don't care about badges, i just want to share information with other developers and sometimes say "thank you" to someone who has posted a solution that i found useful.

if i just want to say "thanks" to someone, i have to think up new thread after new thread of pointless questions that i don't want answers to, just to get the 50 points, so i can go back to the saved thread and say "thanks". that's a dumb system.
